Day 13…
Today we got up on the earlier side again… We go on the St. Pancras train to Chesterfield where we went to the Chatsworth House. The train ride on the way was fantastic! I sat at a table alone because I wanted to work on my blog some (I have been behind so today was my catching up day) and these people on their way to a job sight sat down with me and were having one of the most strange conversations I have heard, between talking about bunny rabbits and their job and multiple people from their work, they were having a great time. After they got off an old couple sat down and they sort of insulted us saying we were a bunch of young yanks that were just in their way. Some people here just do not like tourists.

When we arrived at the Chesterfield train station and got onto the bus taking us to the house, our bus driver talked to us about some of what we would be seeing kind of like he was our tour guide. The country side we passed was gorgeous. The rolling hills, flocks of sheep, little cottages or farms along the side just made me love England that much more!

| Chatsworth House |
When pulling up to the Chatsworth House, I’m pretty sure everyone was in awe… This was by far the biggest House/Palace we went into. This House actually let us take pictures inside! The molding/plaster work/wood work in each room was extremely detailed. The railing around balcony walk ways in the entrance wall were gold, which lead to the large center stair case, framed with a large archway. A lot of the walls had damask silk fabrics covering them. In one room there was a mirror that I am in LOVE with! I think I took 20 pictures of it/with it. The drapery is large and ornate throughout the entire house. Grinling Gibbons did the wood carvings on the walls and molding all through the house as well.
| Flowers that matched me Chatsworth House Garden |
The Gardens were beautiful. There are rocks in the gardens that reminded me of the rock in The Little Mermaid and Pride Rock in The Lion King, all rocks that little kids could play on. There is a underground tunnel that allows you to get from one part of the garden to another and lets you out in the middle of a maze; tried getting through the maze, which was a lot harder than expected. There are beautiful flowers that I now have to have in my soon to be garden.
