London Day 14... June 10th

Day 16...

Cambridge Day. To me it was a lot like college day, we took a tour of Cambridge University.

Cambridge Market

So for me today was more of a countdown till Ireland, so I was slightly distracted all day. We went to Cambridge by train and it seemed to be on the earlier side, not as many people out as I expected, later on I was informed that it was because everyone was studying for finals. But we walked what seemed like miles to get to this market where we met a guide to take a tour. This market was super cute and had something for everyone, whether it is food, dresses, scarves, or just to browse (like myself.) We had a little time to spare so we just looked around the market for a bit. When it was time to meet up for our tour, I was about run over by someone on their bike! I obviously am a klutz, but apparently that is one of the main forms of transportation in Cambridge, so it’s kind of like I just stepped out in front of a car.

So the group was split into two groups. We had this older lady that we followed around for about 2 hours who was showing us the city (orientation?) She informed us about Cambridge and how it is one university made up of 33 colleges. She took us around to the place where ___ discovered DNA and celebrated, to the tree where the apple fell on Isaac Newton’s head and he discovered gravity, and quite a few other places of great discovery. We also went into a Protestant churches and catholic cathedrals, which are very different from each other. The cathedrals are very ornate and have a lot of detail in plaster, wood work and gilded gold while the Presbyterian Church is very simple with various wallpapers covering walls.

Our Punting Guide

Along the river
we were Punting on

This afternoon we went punting, which is where you get in a boat and someone stands at the end and guides you through the river. Most of the girls today were in a extremely flirtatious mood, because they all were flirting with our guides. The guides told us about Cambridge from the river perspective. We passed by multiple other boats, and our tour guides jokes around with most of them, as well as us.
A few of us left to go back to our flats early, and of course I was one of them! Ireland is tomorrow and that’s mostly what’s on my mind. J
