London Day 15... June 14th

Day 20…

London  by the Water

Today we started a bit later… thank goodness… We definitely needed more sleep after the plane ride from Ireland and all that weekend tripping…

Gardens in front of
Kensington Palace

We walked over to Kensington Palace, which is like right around the corner from the flat. Fortunately today was super warm and sunny so it ended up being a fantastic walk. I seemed to walk on the slower side today because I was in the back almost the entire time…
The palace was the most different and unique thing I have walked through sense I’ve been here. It was a lot like a scavenger hunt because we had to figure out which princess each room was based off of. Definitely not something I expected to do or see from a palace. We didn’t really get to study the design of anything because the rooms we went into were so dark, but I did figure out every princess before I got to the end, and I learned a little about them. To me this palace was more of a palace you would take little kids to because it was more of a game type feel.

The Royal Helicopter

While we were waiting for everyone to come out, a helicopter flew over head and landed in a nearby grass field. Kensington Palace is where William and Kate are now living, and we were hoping we would get to see them. Someone important did get on the helicopter; however it was so quick from the car to the helicopter that we didn’t get a good look… But the entire time I was thinking “how exciting it would be to see them in person!!”
As a group we were then going to go to a patterns exhibit, however, we took the long way around and got onto 10 different tubes… Basically we explored London from underground. It was crazy! When come to find out we really only needed to make one transfer instead of 9 to get to where we needed to go.

Amazing Patterns on
Random Building

The exhibit wasn’t very big but it did help with pattern ideas. A lot of them were floral and looked a little older fashioned to me. My favorite was a yellow design with some black in it.
As for the rest of the day, I came back to the flat, caught up on some blogging, packed a little and took a short nap… Relaxing today was a great way to say good bye to London and prepare for France J
